Traffic on Jalan Raya Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono XI Rerouted

The East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency is implementing temporary traffic diversion on Jalan Raya Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono XI, Cakung. This measure specifically targets heavy-duty and container trucks to prevent long tailbacks and ensure the smooth flow of traffic in the area.

We ensure the other lane stays open for everyone else

East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency Head, Harlem Simanjuntak stated that 12 personnel have been mobilized to manage and ease traffic flow. Six personnel are deployed to Jalan Raya Cacing, while the other six are on-site at Jalan Raya Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono XI.

"As of this morning, we are implementing a temporary traffic diversion. Vehicles traveling from Bekasi toward Pulo Gadung that intended to turn right into Jalan Raya Cakung Cilincing under the JORR Toll underpass are being redirected to make a U-turn in front of the Cakung Police Station," he expressed, Wednesday (7/22).

According to him, the traffic diversion is a temporary measure and will be lifted once container truck queues toward the two depots return to normal. This proactive step was taken to prevent the heavy vehicle build-up experienced yesterday, Tuesday (7/21).

To keep the city moving, trucks heading to Fortun and BSA Depots are now restricted to a single-file line. This strategic move frees up the adjacent lane for commuters and public transport, preventing a total standstill.

"By enforcing a single-line queue, we ensure the other lane stays open for everyone else. Yesterday, trucks took over both lanes, leading to a total logjam—we’re making sure that doesn't happen again," he explained.

Harlem noted that Jalan Raya Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono XI is much clearer this Wednesday morning.

While the roads are busy, vehicles are moving well. The main "bottleneck" is currently on Jalan Raya Cacing, where trucks are still lining up for the depots.

"We will call off the traffic diversions as soon as the queues dissipate and the flow returns to normal," he stated.
